The history of the amen break

Here’s a history lesson for you, thanks to the wonders of the internet and syndicated multimedia content.

Podcast - Stones Throw Records

StonesThrow.gifHere it is folks, another top podcast to look out for. This week’s pick is from seminal west-coast hip-hop label Stones Throw.

There are eight episodes available opening up with a tribute to the late, great J Dilla. The retro ‘82 set from Peanut Butter Wolf & Baron Zen is a laugh-a-minute hour of electro funk with more vocoders than you can shake a mic at. Madlib’s 45s mix is worth checking too.

The latest episode is available from www.stonesthrow.com/jukebox, and the back issues can be downloaded from iTunes.

If you’re new to this whole podcast thing check out my earlier post for a rundown.

New gallery uploaded

Moving to a new website is like moving house. You can move everything from one location to another, but there always seems to be bits and pieces that take longer to unpack and just lie around in boxes.

Well that’s been the case with our gallery until now. Finally we’ve found the time to start sifting through the old pics and pull them all together into a flashy new gallery.
