We’ve moved office!!

patcave.jpg

Finally (it’s taken a while), we’ve moved on to pastures new. Gone are the purple walls, and the view of the Train Station, situated on top of an overpriced cafe. In its place is a farmhouse, with views of rolling fields. Can’t be bad.In case you’re wondering what I’m on about, I’m referring to the fact that we’ve moved our war cabinet/harem/office to a far more preferable setup that our previous property. We are now safely ensconsed in the bosom of the Carousel Sound Lab crews headquaters (not a pretty image that is now forming in my head….especially if you’ve seen Carousel’s Ummbop, and the Northern Monkey!)

Essentially, we’ve got an office at Carousel, as we all get on, have known each other for years, and work on similar stuff (oh yeah, they’ve got cable, and we can smoke…) - Our updated postal details are on our “contact us” page. Feel free to send us money, quality meats, expensive amplifiers, or size 9 Adidas (boxed). Thank You.

Carousel Sound Lab is a state of the art recording facility, set in the Bedfordshire countryside (about half and hour from London) - There’s rehearsal rooms, post-production suites, audio/visual facilities, you name it, they’ve got it. All fully staffed by the infamous Northern Monkey and his people. If you’re a band just starting out, looking for somewhere to make a noise, or if you’re more accomplished, and want some mastering or overdubs done….whatever, the chaps can take care of it (for a very reasonable price,as it goes!). Check out their website for more information on the full setup.

It’s the next instalment of our “Soul Food” radio series next week. Straight up, tasty, deep-fried beats from your favourite Blunted residents. Marcus Hurley, Agent M, and the Erbalist will be serving up this sitting of musical chicken and rice. Enjoy. We did. That’s why we’ve come back for seconds!

“Destination Midnight” 27th June - Tracklisting and donwload details

yellow.jpg

Ok people. Hopefully by now you’ll have forgiven us for being off air last week. We certainly did our best to make it up to you all (and to christen the new studio here at Blunt Manor) by playing some quality beats for you all. We certainly enjoyed it anyway! Our thanks go our to DJ Adam Williams for coming over to play an exclusive set for us, and it was well worth the wait if you ask me! - Top quality beats all night long from Mr Williams, Marcus Hurley, and Agent M - lashings of hip hop and funk, with a hefty portion of drum and bass.

This was the latest in our “Destination Midnight” series, and it certainly was a musical journey. We hope you enjoyed the trip. A full tracklisting is below, and don’t forget you can listen to the whole show again, for the next 7 days, via our radio page. Aren’t we nice?

We’re back on air!

All has been resolved in the way of server issues (our major thanks go to SdZ for taking care of things), and the crew have finally moved into Blunt Manor Studios, away from the pesants.

We’re sorry we weren’t on air last week. But, we’ve made it up to you by putting something extra special together for tonight’s show…

This weeks show sees the latest in our “Destination Midnight” series, where we give our beat selectors the freedom to play what they like from right across the genres and the years. We know from speaking to you guys in webland that you particularly enjoyed the last session. So, we thought we’d do it again.

Because we’re so nice, we’ve also arranged for guest DJ Adam Williams to come over to Blunt Gables, with his mixed bag o’ tricks to give us an exclusive set once again. Adam will be musically complimented tonight with sets from Blunt Beats resident DJs Marcus Hurley, and Doug. However, due the crazy weather, flooding, and general meteorlogical mayhem that have been happening in the last couple of days, Agent M may step up to the plate to substitute if The Family’s token Scotsman is AWOL. Either or, the beats will be good. Of that you are assured.

As per usual, the whole thing kicks off from 8pm UK time tonight. So be sure to tune in and enjoy 4 hours of premium music.

New mixtape from Prolifik

Dilla Lives mixtapeOK party people, the server glitch that put us out the game last week is now sorted. You’ll be happy to see that we’re back stronger and stranger than ever.

To pick up the slack on the audio side of things I’m proud to present the freshest mixtape from one of our best buddies, the mighty DJ Prolifik. Those of you who caught him at last year’s Urban Picnic Sounds jams at the Rhythms Of The World festival will already be scrambling for the download link. Those that didn’t will be equally impressed.

The man himself recently returned to the fair city of Edinburgh from a spell in Barcelona, and put together this tribute to the late, great, and sorely missed J Dilla. He introduces it like this… Continue reading…

The time has come. Burt Fox and Sonny Noir have put the final touches to number 7 in the Riot Control podcast series, entitled “The Payback Mix”, and it’s now available for download. Do yourself a favour. Get hold of it. This episode is back to basics. Pure hip hop and funk material on a wicked vibe. Also of note is the inclusion of some material from Burt Fox and El-Juba. Blunt Beats Radio 6th June - Soul Food Special - Full tracklisting and download details

yellow.jpg

Oh gosh. What a fantastic night of music we had last night. Wednesday saw us launch a new themed radio night entitled “Soul Food“. The mission was to provide a hazy mix of hip hop, funk, soul, and disco cuts, which all the DJs did to the letter. Fantastic stuff. We battled hangovers, bad cables, and general Blunted studio mayhem to get this to you good people, so we’re glad the feedback so far has been really good.

Agent M lazily kicked things off with a mellow mix of soul tracks, drifting into some old time hip hop classics for the sunshine, helping ease the Wray and Nephews induced hangovers that were present at HQ. Next up, Marcus Hurley got his funk on, pumping out some heavyweight breaks, with the inclusion of his “Bargain Bucket” set of tunes that he’s picked up recently, diggin through secondhand shops. Funny, and well executed as always. (with some bloody top tunes from across the years!)

The final set in this little session was brought to you by Doug, and, put simply, it was a pleasure to listen to. High quality, fresh, worldwide hip hop beats mixed to the letter. Tracks from artists such as Roots Manuva, and Lloyd Parks, sweetly blended together as we approached midnight. Spot on.

We’ll be back with a future installment in the Soul Food series in the near future. For now, you can download the entire nights show via our radio page for the next 7 days, and a full tracklisting is below.
