More noodles coming your way…

It’s that time again. Next weeks live radio show sees the return of our popular “Electric Noodles” series. Entitled “Noodles For You”, the next episode will continue in the same vein as previous episodes, with a selection of top quality electronic, ambient, and experimental music. J will doing a set on the night (those of you who have listened before will know what to expect!) and, as usual, we’ll be running from 8pm UK time, and recording the whole show for download. Aren’t we nice? Continue reading…

Soul Food III

yellow.jpgNormal service has been resumed following the dramas of last weeks live show (thankfully) – Next on the calendar is the latest chapter in our “Soul Food” series, on the 22nd Aug.
You should know what to expect by now. A deep-fried mixup of hip hop, soul, ska, funk, jazz, and any other ghetto delicacies we see fit. Servin’ up the chicken thighs on the night will be the Erbalist, Doug, and Agent M.

It’s the usual deal – Live from 8pm Uk time through ’til midnight. Enjoy.

Riot Control 8 Released

It’s been a while coming, but it’s been well worth the wait. Our friends Burt Fox and Sonny Noir have just released Riot Control 8, the latest in their series of podcasts. This mix is a mellow, blissed out mashup of hip hop, soul and a touch of dubstep. We love this shit, and can’t recommend it highly enough! – Visit the Riot Control site for the download, and be sure to check the archives.

(Also, check the exclusive interview with Burt Fox we’ve got published here on Blunt Beats. Know a little more….)

“Destination Midnight” 15th Aug: Download Details.

Oh dear. I’d better start by way of both an apology and explanation. You may have noticed the gremlins were in the system on Wednesday nights live show. Firstly, our grave apologies. Believe me, it was a bit of a mission to get any kind of show at all. Continue reading…

Friendly Fire at the Design Museum

Adbusters graphic by BarnbrookLike most graphic designers I need inspiration almost as much and as often as I need food and air. The internet is a brilliant invention for shifting creative block, but sometimes you just can’t beat seeing quality art and design close up in large format.

Every now and then, usually when I’m hunting for ideas, I head down to the Design Museum in London to see what’s on show. I did just that on Sunday and thought I’d put up a quick post to tip you guys off about an exhibition that’s well worth catching. Until 10th October the Design Museum is showing ‘Friendly Fire’ a collection of works by prolific British designer Jonathan Barnbrook. Continue reading…

UPS – The Mixes (part I)

yellow.jpg

We’ve recently uploaded a selection of live Dj sets from our recent outing at Urban Picnic Sounds, a 2 day festival affair that took place about a month ago (see the Urban Picnic Sounds posts for more info)

Anyhow, the Ras Pizzler was bang on it (and the audio! arf arf) over the weekend, ensuring that all the sets were recorded for the Blunt Archive. What I’ve done is post up the sets from our guest Djs over the weekend, to give you a bit of a taste of whats to come. The sets in question, and their descriptions, are below. Continue reading…

Uncharted Territory – Tracklist/Download details

tv02.jpgWell, as predicted, this show was a stormer. Resident Blunted Junglists Doug and Marcus G Hurley absolutely tore it down in Wednesday’s radio session. 4 hours of quality drum and bass, and jolly good it was too. The guys decided to take a step back in time, not just with their tunes, but with their Dj setups. Hour sets each. Twice.

We’ve got to give ‘em a gold star, not just for the music, but for managing to tracklist the whole thing. And, we’ve kindly copied it below for you guys in webland. Get a download of the full four hour session via our radio page for the next 7 days. (Saying that, I’m sure this is one recording we’ll be putting in the archive, for sure!) Continue reading…

Stuff To Watch

tv02.jpgNow, I’m a busy boy at the moment, but I’m aware of the fact that not all of you are. Some of you are lazy, dole-scrounging so-and-so’s, some have injuries (such as toothache) which means you cant go very far, and some are simply hermits.

Just for you misfits of society, I’ve compiled some more stuff from the world of the Internet, for you to watch and learn something. Rather than just being a burden on the taxpayer, you can be an educated one, so read on. Continue reading…
