Welcome to Bluntbeats.com

"Classic and unique beats, down and dirty round the edges, for people who should know better."

Sittin’ good on your stomach

That’s right. It’s time once more for some high-carb funk and full-fat hip hop, with some soul and jazz flavoured grits on the side.

Yep. Tasty as you like, it’s time once again for Soul Food. Blunt Residents Agent M and Marcus Hurley will providing the soundtrack to this ghetto feast, this Wednesday night from 8pm UK time.

Heavy Vibes: - Tracklisting

Well, it’s taken me a few days to get anywhere near the site to do this, so apologies first off for the delay. As expected, our Heavy Vibes radio session was exactly that. Blunt Beats residents the Erbalist and Agent M were joined by special guest Christafari for some oversize basslines, and roots-style skankings. Continue reading…

Muchos Heavinos Vibos (as they say in Meh-hee-co)

Apologies for the title of this post. It’s rubbish. I don’t know what I was thinking….Anyway, one thing that certainly won’t be rubbish is next weeks live radio show. The return of Heavy Vibes. Straight up roots, dancehall, dub, and other heavyweight smoked-out selections. DJ’s on the night will be your Blunted Residents Agent M and the Erbalist, who will be joined by special guest and Blunt cohort Christafari, live at Blunt HQ. Change the water in your bong. Get a new gauze. You’re gonna need it.

Bertie Bassett doesn’t come close….

As promised, Wednesday’s live radio show lived up to it’s name. Allsorts. From across the years and the genres. You can, of course, download the whole show via our radio page for the next 7 days. Well worth doing if you ask me, even if I did seem to be mixing with someone else feet instead of my hands at some points. Not sure what was going on there. Maybe it’s my age. Anyway, a full tracklisting is below. Continue reading…

Another Hand-Picked Selection

Our next live radio show (Wed 16th January) sees the return of our “Allsorts” theme. Expect to hear a whole range of stuff, from across the genres and across the years, as chosen by Blunt residents the Erbalist, Agent M, and Doug. If you wanna see just how diverse the music can get on this night, then check out some of the previous “Allsorts” tracklisting posts. This show really does live up to its name. Live from 8pm UK time, Wed 16th January. www.bluntbeats.com/radio.

Absolutely fkin rinsed out

Well, what a show! The return of our new AFRO show was a bit of a stormer. For those that missed it, and the last AFRO, the theme of the night is to play as hard edged as possible from across the beat spectrum and just simply tear shit up! Top sets were delivered by all so, while you can download the full show for another few days, here’s a bit of reportage on the night’s proceedings.

AFRO - The Return

We’ve taken it upon ourselves to kick the proverbial arse out of the “January Blues” this week, by scheduling the return of our Absolute Fucking Rinse Out (AFRO) radio show.

Ear-crunching music on the night will be provided by Blunt Residents Marcus Hurley and the Erbalist. They will be joined by special guest, Luton Town fan, noisemeister, and long-term Blunt friend WreckUp for an exclusive session of dirty basslines, piercing percussion, and rude-bwoy samples. Expect to hear lots of jungle, drum and bass, breakbeat and other such noises. AFRO: live from 8pm UK time, on Wednesday 9th January. Do not adjust your set. One mans noise is another mans rinse-out.

Destination Midnight - Tracklisting

As predicted, Wednesday’s Destination Midnight show was a top quality affair. Good tunes all round. Doug gets a gold star, as hes completed his tracklisting homework, which is set out below.

Another drive to Destination Midnight

We’ve managed to stagger (literally, in some cases) into 2008, and, to mark this fact, we’re back on air tonight with the latest in our much-loved Destination Midnight series. Expect a wandering 4 hour journey into the unknown, via the record collections and personal selections of your co-drivers Doug and Agent M
Live from 8pm Uk time, January 2nd…Check your tyre pressure and buy some travel sweets. It’s gonna be a long drive.
