Welcome to Bluntbeats.com

"Classic and unique beats, down and dirty round the edges, for people who should know better."

Well Garnished

That’s right, our own blunted Soul Food kitchen will be serving up more tasty soul, funk, and hip hop beats, live on air tonight from 8pm UK time. 4 hours of deep-fried and heavily peppered sounds, brought to you on this outing by Blunt Beats residents the Erbalist, and Agent M. Moreish musical morsels are certainly on the menu.

More festival sounds

UPS

As you may have noticed from my ramblings in the previous post, we’re currently in the middle of moving studios. So, to make life a little less hectic, and to allow you good people a further audio-esque peep into our archives, we’re going to be playing some more sets from our recent Urban Picnic Sounds outing at the Rhythms Of The World festival, on tonights radio show.

Music on this evenings show will include live recordings of Blunt Residents Marcus Hurley, Agent M, and the Erbalist. Also, 60 minutes from DJ Herb from Solution Sounds, who was a guest DJ on the weekend. Good to have you along, man! :)

We have a (musical) home

patcave.jpg

Eventually, after a few weeks of dramas, house moves, and broken limbs, we have finally sorted ourselves out with a new studio for our radio and recording. We’ve simply integrated our office and studio (or should I say blagged some more room) through the kindness of the hearts of our good friends at Carousel Sound Lab. Thanks-you-please chaps, very much indeed, yes? :) .

(Ab)normal service for our live broadcasts will be resumed next week, in our new home. Thanks as always to J for taking care of the audio archive, editing, and uploading, especially over the past few weeks which have been more than tricky. Nice one :)

UPS @ ROTW 2008

This years Urban Picnic Sounds @ Rhythms Of The World Festival has just past by very rapidly indeed and a great time was had by all. Thanks to everyone old and new that turned up to make it one of the best yet.

Great soundsystem, great tunes and 10,000 people wandering around the site on each day! Nice. More on that from the rest of the crew shortly….

This week we thought it would be nice to relive the weekend again, with a bunch of recordings straight from the desk. A varied selection from both days, with sets from Doug and myself, plus our special guests from the Saturday, Baron Studio Sound and DJ Adam Williams.

This Wednesday from 8pm. Download for 7 days via the Radio page.

Urban Picnic Sounds 2008

UPS

It’s here once more. All the Blunt Beats Djs plus special guest for two days in the (hopefully) sunshine with our Urban Picnic Sounds project.

Back for our 6th year at the Rhythms Of The World festival, the Blunted contingent will be holding down their very own stage, as per usual, for the whole duration.

Those of you in the know will know just how good this festival is, so I’m not gonna bang on about it. There are over 150 acts, performing over 2 days, in 14 acres of landscaped woodland, for next to nothing.

For those of you who have been living under a stone, Urban Picnic Sounds is where the family Blunt take it upon themselves to invite some friends, and create one of the most top-notch sunshine soundtracks you can imagine, as a backdrop to the entire festival. We have a blast. And we must be doing something right. This is our 6th year there, so we kind of figure you lot out there love it too!

Guests this year include Herb (Solution Sounds), Matty J, Baron Studio Sound, and Adam Williams.

Blunt Beats presents Urban Picnic Sounds 2008 at the Rhythms Of The World festival, 12 and 13th July. Tickets and info are available through Rhythms Of The World. If you are anywhere near the South of England (or even further afield) this weekend, we strongly recommend you get to this.

Another Trip to Midnight

DM

Our journey down the long and winding road continues. This week it’s Blunt residents Agent M and the Erbalist, playing 2 hours of indulgent tunes each, for you the assembled listeners.

Expect to hear lots of hip hop, nu-jazz, and broken electronica in this session. With maybe a touch of reggae too. And, these two luddites will be experimenting with the technology you kids are down with these days. It’ll probably be as bumpy and smoke-filled as their vinyl sets, but these two old sheepdogs will popping their live laptop cherries for this show. Nice :)

Destination Midnight returns this Wednesday – 4 hours of indulgent beats from Agent M and the Erbalist. Live from 8pm UK time. www.bluntbeats.com/radio
