"Classic and unique beats, down and dirty round the edges, for people who should know better."

As If By Magic…

shopkeeper1.JPG“The shopkeeper appeared”…Erm, thats not strictly true. What is true is that with lightning speed and efficiency, our good friends at Internet Radio have helped us fix our issues with our mix loop.

The 24/7 mix loop is now back up and running, and, as usual, you can use the “listen in” button on the radio page to get the beats. Nice.

Phew. Im off for a lie down.

Technical Difficulties

loom.JPGYes, you read that right. Our usual sterling music service is a little disrupted. Our 24/7 mix loop is currently off air, due to some “issues beyond our control” as they say. We are hoping to have this rectified very swiftly, so that normal round-the-clock Blunt service can be resumed.

However, all is not lost. Oh no. Our mix loop may be a little screwy at the minute, but you can still download all the individual sets that are posted here on the site. You can use the handy Downloads tag in our “Tags” section, to find hours of music that should keep you amused for the time being.

Also, you can still download the recording of all four hours of this weeks live show via our radio page. Nice.

As I say, sorry the mix loop has dropped off. It will be sorted. Swiftly. We’ll post full details as and when it goes live again. It shouldn’t be long.

Best Of British: Tracklisting

Last nights radio show was the launch of our new Best Of British night, which was a resounding success. British music from across the years was played, and a good time was had by all, my ole china.

In a change to the advertised billing, Marcus Hurley kicked the show off with a selection of vintage drum and bass tracks from back in the day. This was followed by a heavyweight set from special guest Matty J (aka ReggaeMATTic), taking a nostalgic look at the UK reggae scene. Agent M finished the night off, with a mix of punk, indie, and breakbeat on a UK tip, throwing in some old-time TV themes and adverts, just for the hell of it. Top stuff all round.

A full tracklisting is below, and you can download the entire show for the next 7 days via our radio page. Continue reading…

Best Of British

bb-bob.jpgCor blimey guv’nor! This weeks live radio slot sees the launch of a new show we’re looking forward to here at Blunt HQ. Best of British is exactly that. Quality British music from across the genres, and the years, put together in a Blunt stylee.

Joining Blunt Residents Doug and Agent M on this launch show will be special guest Matty J, who once again be back at Blunt HQ (AKA Casa Jambo), to treat us all to some more of his quality tunes in another exclusive set.

You can expect to hear all sorts of stuff in the coming Best Of British shows. Reggae, dubstep, breakbeat, hip hop, rock, punk, electronica, drum and bass; it’ll all make an appearance. The common thread is that everything you hear will be by British artists. As I’m sure you’ll agree, that gives us a lot of ground to cover.

Put the kettle on, sunshine…

Blunt Beats Radio presents Best Of British, live from 8pm Uk Wed 26th Nov. www.bluntbeats.com/radio

Focuz your ears on this

logo.gif We’re always up for new music here at Blunt HQ so long as it’s good, and, if it’s put together by one of our own, then we know it’s gonna be good.

So. No problems there, then. Which leads me nicely on to the point of this post.

What I’m talking about is the Focuz series of podcasts, put together by our own Blunt resident beatmeister, Doug. Essentially, Doug has lauched a regular series of podcasts, taking in music from across the board, in his own unique style, reflecting his personal musical influences and taste. Continue reading…

A Taste Of Noodles

raymond.JPGAs you may (or may not) know, we’ve got another of our Electric Noodles shows scheduled to take place in a couple of weeks. For the uninitiated, this is where the Resident Blunt DJs, and special guests, create a 4 hour mix of chillout, electronica, and downtempo sounds.

Jolly good it is too!

Anyway, if my technology and brain hold up, I’ve got something pretty musically cool lined up for the forthcoming Noodles outing, which I’ll be posting about soon enough.

In the meantime, I figured I’d put up a recording of part of one of my previous live Noodles mixes. Recorded off-the-cuff a few weeks ago, its a half-hour of Noodle-esque beats to get you in the mood for the next show. A little taster, you might say.

A tracklisting is below, and you can download the mix itself here. Continue reading…

Another Tasty Offering

Soul Food

We’re certainly full to bursting here at Blunt HQ, after gorging ourselves on the beats in last nights Soul Food radio show. First up, guest DJ Prolifik presented his first exclusive podcast for Blunt Beats, taking us on a journey through his stacks of classic hip hop wax. Top selection, which was a pleasure to hear.

Prolifik was followed by yet another guest for you lucky people, and that would be designer, DJ, and beatmaker, the Berlin-based Mr Phipson. Oh yes. Wicked stuff. Just over an hour of spaced out jazz breaks and hip hop beats. As fresh as the proverbial daisy.

Bringing the session to a close was a mix from our own Blunt resident Doug, with a high quality mix of fresh hip hop cuts (as you would expect) and quality funk breaks, marking the end of another Soulfood outing.

A tracklisting is below, but do yourself a favour and get hold of all 3 of these exclusive sets by downloading the whole show via our radio page. It’ll be there for the next 7 days.

Prolifik-ally Speaking

JayDee.JPGIn order to give you people in webland a little taste of what to expect on this weeks Soul Food radio show, I thought I’d bring your attention once more to DJ Prolifik’s J Dilla Mixtape.

As you’ll notice from previous posts, one of our special guests on the show this week is our good friend and turntable wrecker, DJ Prolifik. Some time ago, we posted a top-notch exclusive mixtape from the man himself, which was recorded in memory of the late, great, J Dilla.

Personally, I thought it would be good idea to re-visit that, and get you all in the mood for Wednesdays live show, and give the uninitiated a taste of the Prolifik sound. Some info and a tracklisting is below, and you can download the mix itself, to listen to at your leisure, right here.
