A sneak peek Behind Closed Doors

This week saw the debut release of the new hiphop production DVD magazine Behind Closed Doors (BCD). It’s a collaboration between a good friend of the Blunt Beats crew, AB0181 (AKA Prolifik) and West Midlands producer/MC, Kosyne.

Taking you behind the scenes of some of Britain’s underground hiphop producers; each volume brings you exclusive interviews and features from some of the most talented beat makers and producers in the country. The trailer below gives you a little taster of what to expect…

When the dust had settled, and the guys had caught up on some sleep, we grabbed Andy B to find out more about the magazine and what’s gone into this volume and the bonus beat CD that’s bundled with it.

This Aint No Atkins Diet…..Fool!

Soul Food

This weeks live radio show sees your favourite Blunted musical chefs serving up another deep-fried, hi-carb, ghetto-sized portion of Soul Food.

Straight-up funk, soul and hip hop from Agent M, the Erbalist, and Marcus Hurley. Live from 8pm tomorrow night. Tasty :)

Something a bit different from Agent M in this weeks show…he’s been busy reading his sleevenotes, and donning his trainspotter anorak again. But, don’t worry. It’s all in a good cause. He’s going to be playing some well-known (and some harder to come by) hip hop tunes, and then dusting off the original track which provided the sample for the song in question.

For a lot of you, this should be an interesting insight into exactly “where” some of the tunes in your record collection come from. For those in the know, well, it’s a damn good excuse for him to play some old funk, soul, and disco tracks that you just don’t get to hear that often.

Blunt Beats Radio presents Soul Food, with Agent M, the Erbalist, and Marcus Hurley. Live from 8pm UK time Wednesday 25th March. www.bluntbeats.com/radio

Destination Reached

Yep, we got there, in a safe-and-sound-but-spaced-out kind of style…

Blunt Resident DJs the Erbalist and Agent M were let loose on last nights Destination Midnight radio show with two hours of airtime each. And they rose to the challenge just fine. Lots of electronic stuff, dubstep, breakbeat, jazz, and hip hop…all woven together into a 4 hour hazy soundtrack for you lucky weblanders.

A full tracklisting is below, and you can download the whole show for the next 7 days via our radio page.

Set Your Sat-Nav For Midnight

Unlike our Blunted friend, Rib (!), our sat-nav is set squarely on our end goal (rather than Stevenage), Destination Midnight.

Taking you to 00:00 on tomorrow nights live radio session will be 2 wandering, indulgent, and very different mixes. Blunt Residents Agent M and the Erbalist will be in charge of proceedings to ensure top-notch musical quality control on this little excursion. 2 hours apiece, live from 8pm UK time, tomorrow.

Synchronise your watches, stock up on cigarettes, put the beers in the fridge, and make the marmalade sandwiches (they were good enough for Paddington, and he came from deepest darkest Peru!) This should be an interesting little journey.

Video – Printer Jam

Whilst browsing around on the web this morning I blundered across the official video for a track that’s been causing a ruckus on the drum and bass scene for the last few months. Mistabishi’s ‘Printer Jam’ has been breathtakingly animated by Kenny Frankland (AKA Tin Spider). A cracking piece of work. Enjoy…

Uncharted Navigation

Right. Lets get down to business. Big tunes last night on our Uncharted Territory radio show, and a slamming guest set from Alex Deadman and Rogue State.

A full tracklisting is below, and you can download the entire 4 hours of heavyweight beats via our radio page for the next 7 days.

Going off The Map Once More…

Uncharted Territory on Blunt Beats Radio
Tomorrow nights live radio show sees us in Uncharted Territory mode once again. Sailing the good ship Blunt Beats through a wandering mix of spaced-out breakbeat and drum and bass sounds will be Blunt Residents Doug and Marcus Hurley, (compass included).

But, that’s not all….oh no. We’ve also got a guest mix for you from Sheffield-based beat providers Rogue State and Alex Deadman, bringing a touch of the dubstep vibe to the show for you lucky people. Entitled “The Crunch”, it’s an on-point mix of lots of homegrown exclusive beats, and heavy basslines!

And, we’ve got an interview and some other exclusive bits coming from Alex and the Rogue State/R8 Records crew in the very near future. So, think of this show as a (bloody good) introduction to what they’re doing. We like it, so, in all probability, you will too!
