It’s been a hectic few weeks at Blunt HQ. Apart from the usual skulduggery with gigs and radio shows and all the rest of it, theres also been a fair amount of day to day head crushing stress for all of us in our respective lives of late. It’s been a combination of credit card bills, car M.O.T’s, flight bookings, blocked dishwashers, unreliable computers, and lost phono cables to name but a few. I for one, have not been the healthiest of bunnies over the past few weeks, which hasn’t helped. I figured there was only one way to combat this, and that was to record a chill out set.
I named it “Transistor Breathing” (for lack of a better name - and it’s predominantly electronic sounds, so it seemed rather apt).It did the job. I recorded this, and sat down to listen to it back. Within 10 minutes I was lying down, still listening, and closing my eyes.
The tunes in this mix are mainly in an electronic vein (with a little bit of Massive Attack thrown in. ‘Cos i like it). Artists featured include the Aphex Twin, Global Communication, Nightmares On Wax, and the aforementioned Massive Attack. A tracklisting for this hour long musical opiate is below:
14:31 - Global Communication (Sanctuary Recordings)
Olson (version 3) - Boards Of Canada (Warp)
4:02 - Global Communication (Sanctuary Recordings)
Orange Planet - Turnesol (Apollo)
Misted - Ken Ishii (R&S)
Schottkey 7th Path -Aphex Twin (R&S)
9:25 - Global Communication (Sanctuary Recordings)

Protection - Massive Attack feat. Tracey Thorn (Wild Bunch)
Les Nuits - Nightmares On Wax (Warp)

Nice…glad you enjoy, gentlemen……
Bit of a story to this mix, which I’ll go into sometime
Been shopping for some new bits over the last couple of months, and I’ll be putting down some more mixes in a similar vein very soon.
