e0e - The Interview

tv02.jpgWe’re a cultured lot here at Blunt HQ, old bean.
A short while ago, whilst surfing the ‘net indulging in my 70’s sportswear-purchasing obsession, I stumbled across the work of eoe. Now, here was something I could relate to….
Art from someone who spends too much time smoking and playing video games, and too much money on Adidas. I had to get in touch for a chat to find out more. That chat turned into an interview, which you can read below. Continue reading…

M DZYN - The Interview

tv02.jpgNow, some time ago, a chap named Machel left a comment here on bluntbeats.com on a post regarding graffiti. We took it upon ourselves (being the inquisitive souls we are) to check out Machels site, called M-DZYN. Needless to say, we were impressed. So impressed, in fact, that we got in touch to arrange an exclusive interview for you lucky people. It’s Agent M on the questions, chattin’ to Machel. Continue reading…

Friendly Fire at the Design Museum

Adbusters graphic by BarnbrookLike most graphic designers I need inspiration almost as much and as often as I need food and air. The internet is a brilliant invention for shifting creative block, but sometimes you just can’t beat seeing quality art and design close up in large format.

Every now and then, usually when I’m hunting for ideas, I head down to the Design Museum in London to see what’s on show. I did just that on Sunday and thought I’d put up a quick post to tip you guys off about an exhibition that’s well worth catching. Until 10th October the Design Museum is showing ‘Friendly Fire’ a collection of works by prolific British designer Jonathan Barnbrook. Continue reading…

So that’s where it comes from

I’m going slightly off topic here and posting bit of a linguistic history lesson today. However, in true Blunted tradition it’s a nugget of wisdom that’s high on satisfaction (e.g. wow, I never knew that), but low on practical use (now I know that what do I do with it?).

The @ sign. A character that, in this internet age of wireless connectivity and global communications, we use every day; dozens of times a week; thousands of times a year. Continue reading…

Obey Giant

obey1.gifJust a quick video post today to give Agent M a break from trawling through video sharing sites compiling media freebies for you. I’ve dug out a three part series on Shepard Fairey - the incredibly influential graphic-designer, street-artist and sticker/stencil activist out of California.

Shepard is best known for the “Andre The Giant Has a posse” craze of the early 90’s (described in part 1), that has now matured graphically and evolved into the brand Obey Giant and clothing label Obey Clothing. Continue reading…

Radio Flyers (finally) uploaded to view

elecperiodic.jpg

Well, it had to happen sometime. Lots of you have been hassling us to put up copies of our radio flyers for public viewing for absolutely ages. For those of you that aren’t sure what we’re talking about here, its quite simple. Every week we post a flyer/ad for our Wednesday night live radio show, and we started to make these as tongue-in-cheek (i.e. stupid) as possible.

Nobody and nothing is safe. From fat people, to midgets, to smoking children, national monuments, and fried chicken…we’ve used them all as backdrops for our promotions.

As we said, this is all tongue-in-cheek, and just done for a bit of a giggle (if you’re offended by any of them, please feel free to bugger off to a lentil-eating hippy commune somewhere, and leave the rest of us alone to swear and burp and make fun of stuff!!)

Anyway, thanks to some head scratching and button pushing, you can now take a look at our flyer gallery. Funnily enough, its on the gallery page….

Daim 3D graffiti and other artwork

daim02.jpg

Whilst looking for inspiration on a project I’m working on right now I came across the work of Daim, a supremely talented graff artist based in Germany. There are a few artists out there who dabble in the third dimension in their work, but this guy has the technique completely nailed! Continue reading…
