This weeks live radio show sees your favourite Blunted musical chefs serving up another deep-fried, hi-carb, ghetto-sized portion of Soul Food.

Straight-up funk, soul and hip hop from Agent M, the Erbalist, and Marcus Hurley. Live from 8pm tomorrow night. Tasty

Something a bit different from Agent M in this weeks show…he’s been busy reading his sleevenotes, and donning his trainspotter anorak again. But, don’t worry. It’s all in a good cause. He’s going to be playing some well-known (and some harder to come by) hip hop tunes, and then dusting off the original track which provided the sample for the song in question.

For a lot of you, this should be an interesting insight into exactly “where” some of the tunes in your record collection come from. For those in the know, well, it’s a damn good excuse for him to play some old funk, soul, and disco tracks that you just don’t get to hear that often.

I think I’d disagree. If it was the first music promo to use hypnotism, it’d make explaining the success and following of Basshunter a lot more tricky!

Anyway, it’s a cool video. Take a look. If you like his stuff ,you can catch him live at Kill ‘Em All at Fabric on Friday 23rd January, alongside premier French electro beatmaker Yuksek, and many others. A full line up for the event can be found here.

Talking for Fabric, if you’re in the London area, you’d be well advised to take a look at another of Fabric’s projects. Matter. Essentially there are some great lineups, and it turns the 02 Arena into a bloody big club. Take a look at their events calendar here. Some good stuff coming up, including the Louis Vega birthday party at Soul Heaven. Nice

Right then people, here’s the tracklist from last nights top quality (and highly amusing) Destination Midnight show. Don’t forget you can download the full four-hour mix for the next 7 days via our radio page.

2 Djs, 2 hours each, and 2 very different approaches….First up, Doug stepped up to the controls, putting down 120 minutes of crisp broken beat and nu-jazz sounds. Fully enjoyed by the crew at Blunt HQ, this little session is a super-slick chill pill. Spot on fresh tunes to get you in the mood for summertime, for sure!

Next up was Agent M, who took it upon himself to pay a complete mish-mash of soul classics, hip hop beats, film scores, house tunes, disco sounds, with a little bit of electro, and a touch of French conversation thrown in (just for the sophistication of it!). We had a right giggle with this set at HQ, especially with the Percy Thrower narrative and the disco Star Wars theme.

The mix is a bit bumpy in places (as M himself admits), but it was all very late and hazy at HQ by the time we reached our Destination Midnight, and this session was more for the blunted, smoked-out fun of it than the slick mixing by the late hour of broadcast.

We enjoyed the night. We hope you did too! – A full tracklisting is below, and, as we mentioned above, you can download the whole show (conversational French and all) for the next 7 days via our radio page.
