Soul Food: Tracklisting Update

Guest Dj Matty J deserves a gold star. He went home after playing his Soul Food set for us, and emailed over a HTML’d (makes our web life easier) tracklisting for the set in question. Well done mate. Much appreciated. You can now read the tracklist for the entire night here, and don’t forget you can download the entire 4 hour show via our radio page for the next 3 days!

Adam Williams - Groundbeat Session.

ADAM

Myself and J have been busy here at Blunt HQ, trawling though our radio archives. We’re gonna be uploading some selected sessions over the coming weeks, so that you people in webland can have even more top quality music from Blunt HQ at your disposal.

This time round, we’ve pulled out a mix from the launch night of our “Groundbeat” (jazz influenced) sessions. it’s guest DJ Adam Williams at the controls, working through a diverse selection of mellowed-out beats, exclusively for blunt beats.

Agent M - Groundbeat Session download

Well, seeing as everyone else has pulled their finger out and uploaded some music of late, I figured I’d better do the same.

What I’ve given you is a recording of my set from the launch night of our recent “Groundbeat” (jazz influenced) radio night.

It’s a selection of jazz-influenced hip hop sounds, old and new, with a few Blue Note classics thrown in for good luck (recorded live, bumps and all!)

New Mix Series: 10beat

We’ve been busying ourselves here at Blunt HQ, earning gold stars for all the ideas we come up with for musical treats for you lucky people. Admittedly, we’re lazy little buggers, so not all out ideas come to fruition.

However, our 10beat project is an exception. What we’re doing is getting 5 of the crew (or guests), to simply give us 2 tracks that they are listening to, with a little explanation as to why. Our thinking is that it’ll allow us to showcase some of the music that we don’t always get to play in our radio shows. Continue reading…

Breez Evahflowin: Radio Song

tv02.jpgI’ll keep this short and to the point for once. “Good job!”, I hear most of you say. Heathens that you are. Erm…I’m not keeping this so short now, am I? Er…Anyway…

My good friend Burt Fox at Riot Control in Brooklyn contacted me the other day to play me this track. It’s produced by the man himself and Dj Manic, and damn slick it is too with Breez Evahflowin doing his thing! Do yourself and your music collection a favour and download it here.

Real nice sound, wicked vocal, tight beats. More of the same please people! Great stuff. Keep up the good work, for sure.

As and when he gives them to me (nudge, nudge!) I’m looking forward to playing some more of Burt’s tracks on our live radio shows over the coming months, so watch this space!

Riot Control 11 Released

tv02.jpg It’s been a while coming, but it’s been well worth the wait. Our good friend Burt Fox has been busy, putting together the latest storming mix in the Riot Control series.

Riot Control 11 covers everything from Jay-Z to the Aphex Twin. Trust me. Do yourself a favour and download it.

And, while you’re at it, do yourself a favour and download the whole series. Quality music from the heart of Brooklyn. A welcome return to form gentlemen, we’re loving RC11 here at HQ!

If you like what you hear, don’t forget you can read the exclusive Blunt Beats interview with Burt Fox here.

As you may have been able to tell from Wednesday nights show, our guest Christafari was less than happy with all the laptop glitches he suffered on his mix.
Good old M$ and their reliable software solutions eh?

The New Soul - The Latest Edition

tv02.jpgOur good friend Dex Digital over at mixtapeshow.net has been keeping busy. Aside from the recent Jay Electronica video footage, he’s also just put out some new material on a kind of nu-soul/soultronica kind of vibe.

Now it’s always nice to get pointers when it comes to music. We get people who open our ears up to music, in the same way we do to you guys out there. So, here, I’m kind of passing one on to you.

Bubblegum for the brain

tv02.jpgOk. Fair enough. It’s been quite a while, I’ll give you that…I’ve been stupidly busy with my day (proper) job, but have compiled, yet again, a collection of random bits and pieces of film from the ‘net, that have been doing there rounds here at HQ.

You might like some of it, you probably won’t like some of it, that’s fair to say. Anyway, below are some links to some of the things that have flashed onto the screen and into the retina of late, for better or worse… Continue reading…
