We’re nice chaps here at Blunt HQ. Thoroughly good eggs. We’re like the Trevor McDonald’s of the webworld. Except, of course, that nobody in their right mind would trust us to read the news, and we haven’t got a knighthood between us.

Anyway, because we’re nice (or I am, anyway…), I’ve been through all the posts on the site, linking those applicable with a download tag. Put simply, you can now use the download tag (in the green column on the right, titled “Tags”) to bring up all the posts with mix download links for sets from all the blunt beats residents.

This will allow you to get to the tunes (which, lets face it, is what it’s all about) a little bit quicker. Gold star for me.

Well, that’s it then….The clocks went back last night, it’ll soon be fireworks night, and we’re exchanging our trendy windcheaters for heavyweight hoodies here at Blunt HQ. Autumn is surely upon us. After the fantastic success of the last drum and bass mix, here’s another joint of upfront and brand new white-label vinyl — placed in my hand by Nicky Blackmarket himself, right there in his record shop in Soho, London.

The track selection is a blend of jump-up, ragga influenced sounds and some real vocal pearlers. Most of the tunes on this mix will be big summer anthems on the d&b scene.

I was sorting through my vast record collection probably well over ten thousand records and came across some original rare beauties. This mix part 1 of 2 was inspired, by records left to me a few years back from my Granddad (he was a dedicated jazz funk record collector) sadly passed on to the big boss in the sky.

So I have complied large-flare, kipper-tie, fur coat wearing getups to take you back to the days when music was full of soul. Such artists as Herbie Hancock, Bobby Byrd, Jr. Walker and The All Stars influence most of the music with a cheeky blues number to finish, which is sure to have you donning a Chucky Berry air guitar and kicking your leg across the floor. Well it’s been a sweltering day today and summer has definitely arrived on the scene - some would say it’s too early, but hey. Weather like this is made for getting outdoors, finding a big patch of grass and kickin’ back in some flip flops.

I’m originally from the East coast of Scotland and now live in Newcastle, so sunshine is still a wee bit of a novelty. All that extra vitamin D has dispelled the seasonally affected disorder and inspired me to buy a pair of aforementioned flip-flops and throw this solarflarin’ 55min. mix together. It’s a bit of a sampler of things to come this summer from Blunt Beats, in the build up to Urban Picnic Sounds 2007 in July (Keep your eyes peeled for updates on here soon).
