Soul Food

Well well….this weeks live radio show sees us sittin’ on the stoop with the Olde English and the Phillies as we take in yet another Soul Food Session. Blunt Residents Doug and Marcus Hurley will be taking you through the crates, pulling out lots of smoked-out hip-hop, soul, and funk flavours.

And, for you lucky listeners, we’ve got something a little bit special lined up… We’ll be playing you the on-point “Smokers Lounge” mix from Altanta-based DJ Osmose. Take our word it, you won’t be disappointed, and we’ll have more from our special guest Osmose coming up in future shows very soon.

Ribsteppin’

Here’s some footage from a (very loud) night put on by our friends at ribstep. Booming hip hop, breakbeat, dubstep, drum and bass, and jungle were the order of the day. Nice. Big up to Chronic Sounds for taking care of the low-end bizznizz. A quality night was had by all. Expect to hear more from the ribstep crew in the near future…

You can listen to/download all the sets from this event at www.ribstep.com. Beats from Rib, DJ Swineflu, KZA, Seizmic, Ginger John, and Blunt Beats Djs Doug, the Erbalist, and Agent M.

Best Of British: Tracklisting

Well, as expected, Wednesday night’s Best Of British radio show was a belter, me ole china!

Due to unforseen trickiness, guest DJ Andy Attic was unable to make it Blunt HQ to play for us on the night. Rest assured, we’ll be getting another set from him very soon.

In the best British tradition of pulling your socks up and geting on with it, Blunt Residents Agent M and the Erbalist put in 2 hour sets apiece, with top quality tunes from across the genres. Turned out nice again.

A full tracklisting of the nights music is below, and you can download the whole 4-hour mix via our radio page until next Thursday.

Up Yer Gurkha :)

bb-bob.jpg Now, this country is crap at some things….winning sporting events, and having members of Parliament who don’t take the piss with their expense claims to name but two. But, it could be far worse…We could all be living in France….(and that would be rubbish…as us Brits are notoriously bad at speaking other peoples languages)

There are plenty of things we do well here in Blighty. Rain, buses (not those sodding bendy ones, mind), Radio 4, proper cups of tea, and we drive on the correct side of the road, just to start with. (Shame it took Joanna Lumley to have a rant to sort out this whole Gurkha thing. Fucking disgrace if you ask me…glad it’s sorted out for them though…bloody amazing blokes. Anyway, I won’t start ranting here!)

However, another thing this little island does very well is music…and, we’re gonna take a closer look at that.

Tonights live radio show sees the return of Best Of British, where we simply play British music from across the years and the genres. Simple as that. Expect to hear rock, funk, hip hop, indie, electro, drum and bass, dubstep, breaks…whatever. It’s all good. And all British.

Djs tonight include Blunt Residents Agent M and the Erbalist, who will be joined by guest DJ Andy Attic, providing an exclusive mix, live from 8pm tonight. Should be an interesting little session.

AFRO Playback

As predicted, last nights AFRO radio show was heavyweight tunes of the highest order. Fresh as the proverbial daisy, and as hard as the proverbial bag of nails. Dubstep, Grime, Drum and Bass, Reggae, and Electronica were all thrown in the mix for you lucky weblanders.

Music from Blunt Residents Agent M and Doug was complimented by not one, but two, guest mixes from the crew at Planet Terror Records, courtesy of Mantra and Jack Orion. Totally top-notch stuff. We really enjoyed it!

A full tracklisting for this bass-fest is below. And dont forget you can download the entire 4 hour show via our radio page for the next 7 days.
