AFRO - The Return

We’ve taken it upon ourselves to kick the proverbial arse out of the “January Blues” this week, by scheduling the return of our Absolute Fucking Rinse Out (AFRO) radio show.

Ear-crunching music on the night will be provided by Blunt Residents Marcus Hurley and the Erbalist. They will be joined by special guest, Luton Town fan, noisemeister, and long-term Blunt friend WreckUp for an exclusive session of dirty basslines, piercing percussion, and rude-bwoy samples. Expect to hear lots of jungle, drum and bass, breakbeat and other such noises. AFRO: live from 8pm UK time, on Wednesday 9th January. Do not adjust your set. One mans noise is another mans rinse-out.

Blunted Boxing Day Special

So, we’ve stuffed out faces, smoked our lungs out, and pickled our livers…..No, it’s not a meeting of the Erbalist’s bible group, or Doug’s Hearts FC appreciation society having their annual party; It’s Christmas. To mark the occasion, we’ll be live on air today, starting a bit early (around 4 pm UK time) - Expect to hear sounds from the Blunt Beats residents, plus special guests. No doubt we’ll all be smelling like an upmarket Pepe-Le-Pew, and wearing new wooly jumpers. Tune in, and remember the satsumas and hazlenuts.

Smoking Behind The Bike Sheds - Tracklisting

It’s taken a few days to do it…but it has been Christmas, after all!
Anyway, last weeks Smoking Behind The Bike Sheds radio show was top-notch, and plenty of you have been in touch to tell us how much you’ve enjoyed it. Our big thanks go to our guest DJ Pinko Paul, who overcame his first-time-radio nerves to play a supreme selection of tunes, alongside my good self and the Erbalist.
As promised, a tracklisting has been put together, and is below. Continue reading…

e0e - The Interview

tv02.jpgWe’re a cultured lot here at Blunt HQ, old bean.
A short while ago, whilst surfing the ‘net indulging in my 70’s sportswear-purchasing obsession, I stumbled across the work of eoe. Now, here was something I could relate to….
Art from someone who spends too much time smoking and playing video games, and too much money on Adidas. I had to get in touch for a chat to find out more. That chat turned into an interview, which you can read below. Continue reading…

The Dub Chamber: Tracklisting

Wednesday night saw us launch the latest in out themed radio shows. Entitled “The Dub Chamber“, as the name would suggest, this was straight up heavyweight dub from across the years. Blunt Residents the Erbalist and Agent M did the dub listeners proud, with a supreme selection. A full tracklisting is below, and you can download the whole show via our radio page for the next 7 days. Enjoy. Continue reading…

New track from Burt Fox and El Juba

tv02.jpgOur good friend Burt Fox at Riot Control has been busy. Aside from recently finishing the latest in his podcast series, Riot Control 9 (with Sonny Noir), Burt’s also been working on some of own beats, and working on various tracks, including this little number entitled “The Jungle“, featuring El Juba.

Now, those of you who are up with what Riot Control are doing, may have heard a version of this before. However, the man himself mailed me the other day, with a copy of the finished version, so here it is. Enjoy.

And let us (and Burt, and Juba), know what you think! - Leave you thoughts in the comments box, people.

As far as we’re concerned….well, wicked stuff! - Heavy beats (as always), and dope lyrics from Juba.

Expect to hear this getting dropped in a “Soul Food” night, or similar, very soon!

M DZYN - The Interview

tv02.jpgNow, some time ago, a chap named Machel left a comment here on bluntbeats.com on a post regarding graffiti. We took it upon ourselves (being the inquisitive souls we are) to check out Machels site, called M-DZYN. Needless to say, we were impressed. So impressed, in fact, that we got in touch to arrange an exclusive interview for you lucky people. It’s Agent M on the questions, chattin’ to Machel. Continue reading…
