Mr Phipson is back

Mr PhipsonAfter a bit of a break der Berliner is back on the block with Episode 25 of his podcast.

It’s a firin’ 30min. mix of drum and bass styleee, broken beats, hip hop instrumentals and old-school Russian jazz funk.

It’s been long awaited, but I can’t complain as I promised him a guest mix a couple of months ago.

Anyways, it’s new, it’s good and it’s there for the taking, so go grab it!

Riot Control 8 Released

It’s been a while coming, but it’s been well worth the wait. Our friends Burt Fox and Sonny Noir have just released Riot Control 8, the latest in their series of podcasts. This mix is a mellow, blissed out mashup of hip hop, soul and a touch of dubstep. We love this shit, and can’t recommend it highly enough! - Visit the Riot Control site for the download, and be sure to check the archives.

(Also, check the exclusive interview with Burt Fox we’ve got published here on Blunt Beats. Know a little more….)

Riot Control 7 Released

The time has come. Burt Fox and Sonny Noir have put the final touches to number 7 in the Riot Control podcast series, entitled “The Payback Mix”, and it’s now available for download. Do yourself a favour. Get hold of it. This episode is back to basics. Pure hip hop and funk material on a wicked vibe. Also of note is the inclusion of some material from Burt Fox and El-Juba. Well worth a check. Really really nice tune, and a spot-on mix overall. We’ve been on the Riot Control tip for a while here at HQ, and are loving the shows. As I say, do yourself a favour and download it. Simple as that.

Riot Control 6 released

Right. I’m gonna keep this short and to the point. Riot Control 6 has recently been released, from the Riot Control crew out of Brooklyn, New York. (I should have posted about this at the end of last week, but it’s been a bit hectic). For those of who who dont know what I’m going on about, check our reviews of previous Riot Control audio, and our interview with DJ Burt Fox.

Anyway, episode 6 of this quality podcast is on a dubstep vibe, with bits of classic roots and dub thrown in for good measure. Needless to say it passes the Blunt Beats quality control test!

Exclusive RiotControl NYC interview with Burt Fox

riot.jpg

Right then…You may have noticed us here at HQ making a fuss of late over the musical output of the RiotControl crew, out of Brooklyn, New York. Put quite simply, these guys are on-point. RiotContol is Burt Fox and Sonny Noir, who produce quality mixes/podcasts, across a variety of genres. The shit is as it should be done, and was in fact the soundtrack to the first barbecue of the year at Blunt HQ (believe me, that is an accolade in itself)

Each episode is created in a mixtape style, and covers a lot of ground, across all kinds of genres. What makes it special is the selection, order and blending of some great tracks, with Burt on the decks, and Sonny with the mic, heading up proceedings.

We got in touch with the guys, both to let ‘em know we love what they do, and to tell ‘em that it’s good to link up with people who view music in a similar way to ourselves. Call it a meeting of like-minded soundbwoys! After chatting to Sonny, Agent M tapped the RiotControl crew up for an exclusive interview. It’s M on the questions, and Burt on the replies across the pond. Continue reading…

Each episode has a fantastic variety, mainly across the hip hop, funk, and soul genres, but with bits of jazz, dubstep, breakbeat, and other good stuff thrown in too.

This series of podcasts comes highly recommended by the crew here, and was in fact the soundtrack to the first barbecue of the year held here at Blunt HQ! - Good to hear the shout to the Blunt Beats crew across the pond, gentlemen. Nice one for that!
