Soulfood – Absolute playback part 2

Soulfood on Blunt Beats radio

If you weren’t able to make it down to Bar Absolute in Hitchin last Friday, fear not! We got the while night in the can and it will be revisited in tonight’s Soulfood show.

Tune in from 8pm to catch sets from Morroco, Marcus Hurley and myself. Spanning hip hop, nu-jazz, funk, breaks, electro and DnB, it was a top night of tunes. Don’t miss out a second time!

Territorial replay

Morocco at the controls

So another Uncharted session passes by, and it was an extra special one this week. Marcus opened up proceedings with some fresh, up-front DnB. Our special guest Morocco delivered a storming set of dubstep and breaks (many, and I mean many, unreleased dubs on rotation there). Following that, I took things on to midnight with a bit of ambient and lo-fi drum & bass.

If you missed it live, then fear ye not, you can grab it from our radio page for the next week. A tracklisting of the show is below

Into The Unknown Once More

If heavy breaks and big basslines, in a drum and bass mashup kind of style are your thing, then you’ll be in for a treat with this weeks live radio show.

Blunt Residents Doug and Marcus Hurley will be musically accompanied on the night with an exclusive set from our special guest, Future Science honcho, and all-round top bloke Operata M, during our Uncharted Territory session. It’s a pleasure to have you back at the controls, M!

Expect to hear lots of classics, rarities, and white labels from across the years from these 3 DJs. If past experience is anything to go by, then the beats will be slammin’, of that I’m sure.

Blunt Beats Radio presents Uncharted Territory. 8pm UK time, Wed 16th October. DJs on the night will be Blunt Residents Doug and Marcus Hurley, with an exclusive set from special guest Operata M. www.bluntbeats.com/radio

We’ve moved office!!

Finally (it’s taken a while), we’ve moved on to pastures new. Gone are the purple walls, and the view of the Train Station, situated on top of an overpriced cafe. In its place is a farmhouse, with views of rolling fields. Can’t be bad.In case you’re wondering what I’m on about, I’m referring to the fact that we’ve moved our war cabinet/harem/office to a far more preferable setup that our previous property. We are now safely ensconsed in the bosom of the Carousel Sound Lab crews headquaters (not a pretty image that is now forming in my head….especially if you’ve seen Carousel’s Ummbop, and the Northern Monkey!)

Essentially, we’ve got an office at Carousel, as we all get on, have known each other for years, and work on similar stuff (oh yeah, they’ve got cable, and we can smoke…) – Our updated postal details are on our “contact us” page. Feel free to send us money, quality meats, expensive amplifiers, or size 9 Adidas (boxed). Thank You.

Carousel Sound Lab is a state of the art recording facility, set in the Bedfordshire countryside (about half and hour from London) – There’s rehearsal rooms, post-production suites, audio/visual facilities, you name it, they’ve got it. All fully staffed by the infamous Northern Monkey and his people. If you’re a band just starting out, looking for somewhere to make a noise, or if you’re more accomplished, and want some mastering or overdubs done….whatever, the chaps can take care of it (for a very reasonable price,as it goes!). Check out their website for more information on the full setup.

Official Blunt Beats office now up and running

It’s been a long time coming, but the family Blunt have finally decided they need more space. This isn’t due to our ever increasing waistlines over the Christmas period, but simply that the recording bunker at Blunt HQ can get very hectic when trying to do the paperwork!

Therefore, we’ve sharpened our act (slightly!), and have now moved into a spanking new office at the Hat Factory arts and media centre in Luton, Bedfordshire. From our new base, we’ll be working on our plans for total world domination, alongside national and international gigs, festivals etc

This office will also be the base for several of our personal projects including Agent M’s S.A.R.S (Serious and Real Sounds) music showcase, and the Erbalist’s media company, Blunt Films.
