Radio Update

propercast.gif

It been a fairly busy few weeks at Office Le Blunt. (I can tell that by the fact that the ashtrays are full, and the increasing pile of empty lager cans)

Anyway, we’ve not just ben sitting on our arses…(this time.) Oh no. We’ve been doing good deeds. And filling up ashtrays. We’ve updated our radio page with lots of goodies. For a start, you’ll find an easy-to-use radio player on our radio page. This will allow you to listen through most media (Winamp/iTunes/whatever). It’ll also allow you to listen to both our live shows, (8pm UK time every Wednesday), and our 24/7 mix loop.

Essentially, using the loop, you can listen to a selection of Blunted mixes and exclusives from all the Blunt Residents and special guests round the clock. Everything you hear in the loop is also available for download. If you’re having any trouble with downloads, drop us a line, and we’ll sort it.

A Quick Update (It’s All Good)

Right….as you know, we’re a pretty open bunch here at Blunt HQ. What you see is what you get. There’s no cloak-and-dagger approach here, so I thought it would be worth letting you people in webland know that we’ve got some exciting plans afoot for 2009. We’ll be re-designing the website, tweaking the radio, and giving you loads of fresh music, articles, and interviews, from all over the world.

In a nutshell, we’ll be pulling our finger out and doing some work, and you lucky people will benefit
.

It’s kinda exactly the same as it was, and lose none of our trademark Bluntness, but it’s gonna be a little better.

Soon Come“, as they say.

As If By Magic…

shopkeeper1.JPG“The shopkeeper appeared”…Erm, thats not strictly true. What is true is that with lightning speed and efficiency, our good friends at Internet Radio have helped us fix our issues with our mix loop.

The 24/7 mix loop is now back up and running, and, as usual, you can use the “listen in” button on the radio page to get the beats. Nice.

Phew. Im off for a lie down.

Technical Difficulties

loom.JPGYes, you read that right. Our usual sterling music service is a little disrupted. Our 24/7 mix loop is currently off air, due to some “issues beyond our control” as they say. We are hoping to have this rectified very swiftly, so that normal round-the-clock Blunt service can be resumed.

However, all is not lost. Oh no. Our mix loop may be a little screwy at the minute, but you can still download all the individual sets that are posted here on the site. You can use the handy Downloads tag in our “Tags” section, to find hours of music that should keep you amused for the time being.

Also, you can still download the recording of all four hours of this weeks live show via our radio page. Nice.

As I say, sorry the mix loop has dropped off. It will be sorted. Swiftly. We’ll post full details as and when it goes live again. It shouldn’t be long.

We have a (musical) home

patcave.jpg

Eventually, after a few weeks of dramas, house moves, and broken limbs, we have finally sorted ourselves out with a new studio for our radio and recording. We’ve simply integrated our office and studio (or should I say blagged some more room) through the kindness of the hearts of our good friends at Carousel Sound Lab. Thanks-you-please chaps, very much indeed, yes? :) .

(Ab)normal service for our live broadcasts will be resumed next week, in our new home. Thanks as always to J for taking care of the audio archive, editing, and uploading, especially over the past few weeks which have been more than tricky. Nice one :)

On The Move

tramp

Spare some change for a cup o’ tea, guv?
Sad but true, the fantastic building that was Blunt Beats HQ has been sold, and now we technically homeless. Well, thats a bit of a lie, we’re “temporarily inbetween studios”, is a better way to put it.
We’re sorting it out, but the next couple of weeks might be a bit sporadic music-wise, as we get settled into our new home (when we find it)
Needless to say, as and when we’re up to anything, we will be posting details here on the site. Bear with us through these troubles times. Normal service will be resumed once again very shortly. :)

The New Soul – The Latest Edition

tv02.jpgOur good friend Dex Digital over at mixtapeshow.net has been keeping busy. Aside from the recent Jay Electronica video footage, he’s also just put out some new material on a kind of nu-soul/soultronica kind of vibe.

Now it’s always nice to get pointers when it comes to music. We get people who open our ears up to music, in the same way we do to you guys out there. So, here, I’m kind of passing one on to you.

New track from Burt Fox and El Juba

tv02.jpgOur good friend Burt Fox at Riot Control has been busy. Aside from recently finishing the latest in his podcast series, Riot Control 9 (with Sonny Noir), Burt’s also been working on some of own beats, and working on various tracks, including this little number entitled “The Jungle“, featuring El Juba.

Now, those of you who are up with what Riot Control are doing, may have heard a version of this before. However, the man himself mailed me the other day, with a copy of the finished version, so here it is. Enjoy.

And let us (and Burt, and Juba), know what you think! – Leave you thoughts in the comments box, people.

As far as we’re concerned….well, wicked stuff! – Heavy beats (as always), and dope lyrics from Juba.

Expect to hear this getting dropped in a “Soul Food” night, or similar, very soon!

M DZYN – The Interview

tv02.jpgNow, some time ago, a chap named Machel left a comment here on bluntbeats.com on a post regarding graffiti. We took it upon ourselves (being the inquisitive souls we are) to check out Machels site, called M-DZYN. Needless to say, we were impressed. So impressed, in fact, that we got in touch to arrange an exclusive interview for you lucky people. It’s Agent M on the questions, chattin’ to Machel. Continue reading…

Something Important For Once (The Jena 6)

Now, we’re know for being peace-loving slackers here at HQ, and we don’t often get political and stuff, but, this is an exception. A big one, and an important one. The case of the Jena 6 is an absolute disgrace.

In a nutshell, this is a scandalous case of racism that is seeing half a dozen people looking at a long time behind bars for something that would be farcical if it were not so harrowing. I haven’t really got the skills to put together an editorial to do it justice here, so I’ll give you some links:

Dex Digital at mixtapeshow.net interviews James Rucker, giving a detailed insight into this case.

James Rucker is from www.colorofchange.org. – Please visit their site and show your support. It’s important.

Take a minute to visit these links. Please. Educate yourself and spread the word, as this shouldn’t be swept aside.
