Sad but true, the fantastic building that was Blunt Beats HQ has been sold, and now we technically homeless. Well, thats a bit of a lie, we’re “temporarily inbetween studios”, is a better way to put it.
We’re sorting it out, but the next couple of weeks might be a bit sporadic music-wise, as we get settled into our new home (when we find it)
Needless to say, as and when we’re up to anything, we will be posting details here on the site. Bear with us through these troubles times. Normal service will be resumed once again very shortly.

Our good friend Dex Digital over at mixtapeshow.net has been keeping busy. Aside from the recent Jay Electronica video footage, he’s also just put out some new material on a kind of nu-soul/soultronica kind of vibe.

Now it’s always nice to get pointers when it comes to music. We get people who open our ears up to music, in the same way we do to you guys out there. So, here, I’m kind of passing one on to you.

Our good friend Burt Fox at Riot Control has been busy. Aside from recently finishing the latest in his podcast series, Riot Control 9 (with Sonny Noir), Burt’s also been working on some of own beats, and working on various tracks, including this little number entitled “The Jungle“, featuring El Juba.

Now, those of you who are up with what Riot Control are doing, may have heard a version of this before. However, the man himself mailed me the other day, with a copy of the finished version, so here it is. Enjoy.

Now, we’re know for being peace-loving slackers here at HQ, and we don’t often get political and stuff, but, this is an exception. A big one, and an important one. The case of the Jena 6 is an absolute disgrace.

In a nutshell, this is a scandalous case of racism that is seeing half a dozen people looking at a long time behind bars for something that would be farcical if it were not so harrowing. I haven’t really got the skills to put together an editorial to do it justice here, so I’ll give you some links:

Oh yes. And bloody good it is too! In case you’ve missed our previous article on these guys, Riot Control are based in Brooklyn NY, and put together top quality podcasts. Simple as that. Their selection and blending of tunes is second to none, is very distinctive, and well executed. Each episode has a fantastic variety, mainly across the hip hop, funk, and soul genres, but with bits of jazz, dubstep, breakbeat, and other good stuff thrown in too.

This series of podcasts comes highly recommended by the crew here, and was in fact the soundtrack to the first barbecue of the year held here at Blunt HQ! - Good to hear the shout to the Blunt Beats crew across the pond, gentlemen. Nice one for that!

I’m going slightly off topic here and posting bit of a linguistic history lesson today. However, in true Blunted tradition it’s a nugget of wisdom that’s high on satisfaction (e.g. wow, I never knew that), but low on practical use (now I know that what do I do with it?).
