Agent M has been at it again. He’s recorded a tasty, organic, full-fat mix of quality music for you lucky people, entitled “Chicken Skin and Stash Tins”. The man himself goes on to explain…

“I got the notion to record this mix whilst taking a sunny drive through the wooded Bedfordshire countryside with the Erbalist and Ras Garvey in the speedy red bluntmobile, on our way to a shiny studio at a secret rural location.”

“We were on our way to see the notorious Northern Monkey, Ummbop, and all the crew at Carousel Sound Lab, for some early afternoon recording studio shenanigans, a bit of shop-talking, and general lounging business.”

“At the time I was busy munching on the colonel’s bucket, so to speak (I was enjoying a KFC), and had a Pete Rock beat called “Midnight and You” running around my brain. It was a pretty cool combination! Simple minds, simple pleasures and all that, I guess!”

“Anyway, I decided I needed to mix up some indulgent, mellow, and contented beats.”

“As it turned out, the majority of the visit ended up seeing a collection of DJs and producers drinking tea and watching Dog The Bounty Hunter and other such nonsense on cable tv. This was due to a technical hitch i.e. we couldn’t be arsed to do much more than that after diggin’ the soul food and chillin’ in the plush countryside surroundings. We can’t really complain though, I suppose, as we did find time to talk shop.” (as you do)

“On return to Blunt HQ, I picked out some choice instrumental breaks, with a bit of laid-back old skool hip hop, and some classic soul tunes. The result is this little 40 minute chill pill. Perfect for holdin’ down the porch with a Dragon Stout and some fried chicken in the sunshine, watchin’ the activity on your block, as life unfolds around you.”

‘Alternatively you can download it, stick it on your MP3 player, or a CD or whatever, and go for a drive round the neighbourhood in the sun, and a mental walk down memory lane…There’s tracks in here from the Beastie Boys, Ice Cube, the O’ Jays, and The Roots to name but a few.
