Erbalist out & about again.

Hi there folks. I just thought I’d drop a line to let you know about my travels in March & April, & to big up all the peeps involved.

First of the party’s was down in sunny Brighton for the Ted Live show from the Volks Club, where myself Agent M, SdZ & Minnie Adenoid drove down in the little red go kart. We arrived in Brighton & headed straight for the beach (well it was sunny!) The night didn’t start till 11pm so we meandered around for a bit, & met up with a few of Agent M’s old uni pals, along with Operata M and Tribal Editor for a few afternoon drinks and smokes on the beach. We were starting as we were meaning to go on.

We got into the club at about 11pm & bump into some of the Luton massive that are turning up Seismic & Icklebop. There were two rooms, upstairs was held by Black Box, playing old school techno & downstairs was Club Ted. -  Live PA’s from Operata M, Seizmic, Beebedee, Wreck Up, Tech & Dirty Bass (who also played upstairs). This is where all the Hardcore Mash-up Krew were including myself jumping around to some serious heavy stuff, all set were wicked so big ups to all who played. You can catch all TED shows on www.level-1.org.uk

Easter weekend I was invited by Dj Tease of the infamous Teethout krew, down to his lair down in Kent where the Teethout krew were holding a party. The journey down there was great, no traffic & blazing sunshine. Me & my little red go kart hurtled down the M25 with the windows down & the sunroof open It was a quick journey & I was at Dj Tease’s place in just under 2hrs.

We chilled out for a bit then peeps for the party started arriving. (while I’m here, shouts out to Tease’s little sis & her hubby also there m8, big up the Turkish massive, Also to Jim & Claude - top bunch of chaps. We convoyed to the Teethout camp, we arrived about 9pm the party was just setting up, sorting the sound & most importantly the bar. We spent a bit of time in Jeff’s little pad chilled & nattered for a bit, the we heard sound coming from outside. The party had started.

There was a nice number of people at the party, probably about 500. If you haven’t been to a party that Teethout have been part of, get yourself to one. The vibe created is fantastic & there is no tension at all, as The Colnel said to Tease’s lil’ sis in the night; “If we are not here to help you we are here to entertain you”.

Teethout play Tech house. I call it party music for the grown ups. Full marks to this party, by the way it went on for about 36hrs (thats when I left), so cheers to the Coloneal & his Teethout massive & big ups to Tease & Karen who put me up or was it put up with me. Checkout the Teethout stream on www.level-1.org.uk.

The following weekend i was invited to play at a DnA do in Hemel Hempstead (a bit closer to home). There wasn’t many people there as some of the junior DnA lot held a party the night before & were too mashed to turn up for the Saturday. I don’t know, the youth of today eh? It would never of happened in my time in fact it still doesn’t & im an old fart now! Anyway…

Although the party was a bit thin it was a good night. I started the night of with a load of Reggae dancefloor fillers, well you know what first sets are like & I was determined to start the dancing early. After being a little bit late, eh Wreck-up (hehehe) I arrived a couple of minutes after kick-off so I made my way to the dj booth with my trusty bag of 7”s.

To my surprise as people came through the door they must of heard the ole Erbalist magic as instead of going straight to the bar (which is what i would have done) the went straight over to the stack & started skanking. A good start I thought.

We left a bit early (well, midnight) but all who played had a top selection of tunes & the dancefloor was never empty & there was only about 40 peeps there. Big ups to Rob & the rest of the DnA lot for an entertaining night & a chance for me to wax out some of the ole vinyl.

On the Monday after the DnA do I was taken on holiday by my folks for an early b/day prezzie to Paris.

Paris is a very beautiful city, the first few days consisted of a trip of their favorite bars & sitting on the top of a bus touring the sites in blazing sunshine. Fantastic. There’s nothing like doing nothing in a foreign country & soaking up the rays. On a couple of the evenings we came across some live jazz, very cool stuff.

On the last day I went wandering round trying to find a couple of record shops, as you do. I noticed there was a few near to where i was staying so with the addresses written down & with my trusty map i went wondering round Paris. The first shop I came across mainly sold classical & jazz. I still managed to get a Bob 12” though & staff were friendly. I planed to visit a few record shops but I spent so much time in the next shop I ran out of time. The next shop was Crocodisc down Rue des Ecoles, www.crocodisc.com
.

Crocodisc has a couple of shops next door to each other. Each shop specializes in different genres. I ended up in the reggae department & didn’t come out. These guys are great chaps & very helpful. So top marks to all the guys at Crocodisc & thanks for informing me of Serge Gainsborough’s reggae releases & selling me one. & big up to my folks for a great time.
