Now, we’re sometimes known as having something of a laid-back approach to things here at HQ. Some might say too laid back. (they can piss off) But, this doesnt apply to everyone we know. Oh no. With a risk of sounding like a grumpy old man (Though I’m not, but it’s open to debate), I got a bit of a shock when I opened my post today. It wasn’t a credit card bill. It wasn’t a ransom note. Today, I got my first Christmas card..
Yep. You read that right. My first Christmas card. Little seasonal snowy scence, best wishes, all that. Now, as far as I’m concerned, thats gotta be a personal record. I dont think I’ve ever got a Christmas card this early before. I cant be arsed to go into the whole commercialisation of Christian festival thing here, it’s too long, and like I say, I simply can’t be arsed.
However, I will say it’s nice that people send cards. Most people I know are lucky if they get a card from me (I think I’ve just shot myself in the foot with the “I’m not a grumpy old man” thing).
But, it’s damn early. I dont even buy Christmas cards (if I do) until about a day before the posting deadline. To be fair, my little bundle of festive merriment did come from the U.S, and I know they like to do things bigger and better over there. But the thing is, the person who sent it to me is as English as egg and chips. I’m confused, but, fuck it, it’s a nice thought. Jesus, it is early though.
So, big ups and Happy Christmas to Al and the family from me. I’ll send you an easter egg in about a month or so. To make this more “fun” (in an old-man-who-doesn’t-go-out way), you can leave details of your first Christmas card in the comment box.
How festive. I think I’m gonna go and stone some carol singers. (if I can find any). Stick that up yer snowman.
