During my August travels I passed through Amsterdam for a few days and was lucky enough to catch Beck at the Paradiso (what a great venue). It was a top event so I thoguht I’d share it with you…
We got there, took a seat near the sound desk and sat down for a smoke. Hey we’re in Amsterdam where you can have a smoke at a gig without looking over your shoulder. This has the makings of a good gig already and we’ve only been there 5mins. After rolling I look up and theres two guys with Heiniken backpacks selling cold beer – it just keeps getting better…
After the crowd were entertained by Beck and his band in marionation form the real Beck graced the stage around 21:15 to Looser and a rapturous applause.
The show was fantastic, the screen behind the band only showed live footage of the puppets rather than the band – this was a great idea as the paradiso is a small venue so visibility of the stage was great. Beck played a great including some classics and also some new material.
All in all – great stuff.
