It’s been a while coming, but the British weather is becoming bearable, barbecues seem like a sensible way of dining, and I’ve got one eye on the next pair of fresh Adidias for the sunshine. All this can mean only one thing. The festival season is back with us. From now through ’til the end of August, you’ll find the family Blunt either working or playing at various festivals, gigs and outdoor parties.

The big one this year is our return to the Rhythms Of The World music festival in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Essentially, this is a bloody big world music festival with a wicked vibe, and the Messers Blunt running the only DJ stage at the whole event. 2 days in the glorious sunshine, with loads of great music from all over the world, and the Blunt Beats DJs providing the beat-backdrop to the whole shebang with our Urban Picnic Sounds project.

Lets cut to the chase. Write this date down. Saturday and Sunday the 12th and 13th of July. If you can be there, you’re gonna want to be at this festival. More info and ticket details are at the Rhythms Of The World website.

Back for our 6th year at this festival, Urban Picnic Sounds is what we like to describe as the “chilled out soundtrack to the whole festival“. Its somewhere to kick back with a cool drink, and take in the whole weekend with your family and friends, and some top quality music from the Blunt Beats DJs. We thrive on the fact that ,number one, the crowd loves it, and, number two, that crowd is made of the biggest, mixed-up bunch of people. All races and ages. All with one thing in common. To have a great time in the sunshine to some of the best music of modern times. And, damn, this is just our stage. Theres a whole festival going on around us!

Now, Blunt audio stalwart and archivist J has been busying himself, going through some of our recordings form previous Urban Picnic Sounds events. We’re gonna put some up in various posts over the coming weeks, just to get you in the mood for this years gig. We’re gonna start you up with a recording of an on-point hip-hop set from Guest DJ Prolifik from last year.

Now, I’d like to point out two things.
1) – The boy has skills.
2) – He’s back playing for us again this year.

The other set we’re gonna hook you up with here is certainly keeping it in the family. The Scots have taken over! Designated Blunt haggis-eater (and cousin of Prolifik) Doug dropped a top-quality set of atmospheric broken latin kinda hip hop and breaks last year.

Whatever you do, take our word for it, and try to get to this festival if you can. If you cant, then all is not lost, we’re aiming to record all the music from the event, and there’ll be plenty of video and pics of the weekend too!
