New Mix Series: 10beat

We’ve been busying ourselves here at Blunt HQ, earning gold stars for all the ideas we come up with for musical treats for you lucky people. Admittedly, we’re lazy little buggers, so not all out ideas come to fruition.

However, our 10beat project is an exception. What we’re doing is getting 5 of the crew (or guests), to simply give us 2 tracks that they are listening to, with a little explanation as to why. Our thinking is that it’ll allow us to showcase some of the music that we don’t always get to play in our radio shows.

The tracks in 10beat are a totally personal, and completely indulgent selection. They are simply a snapshot of what we individually are listening to. Right now. This minute. We might be caning the tune on the ipod, or in the car, or the bath. Or, indeed, it could be something that someone has sent us, or we recommend. Whatever the reason, it’s an indication to some of the stuff that is currently booming out of speakers or headphones from Blunt HQ, and getting rinsed something rotten.

Each track will also have a short comment about why it’s been chosen, from the person who selected it. Very “Desert Island Discs”, I know. But, sometimes the explanation will be enough to justify the tunes inclusion. Trust me on that.

Anyway, the whole thing will be available as a download mix, with the tracklisting and notes, on regular basis. It’s not gonna be some mad dj-skills-fest. It’s simply gonna be an end to end mix of the tracks in question. The idea is to let the tunes stand out for what they are. And, believe me, you will hear all sorts of stuff. Classic, rarities, whatever. It’s gonna be good!

Watch this space for updates. The first donwload mix will be coming your way very soon.
