Ger Yer Stomp On

That’s right, we’re Moonstompin’ once again on tonights live radio show. 4 hours of classic ska, rocksteady, and skinhead reggae as selected by Blunt Residents Agent M and the Erbalist. All on wax. As it should be.

We’re live tonight from 8pm UK time, and you can listen live via our radio page. On which, you’ll also see a handy video player, which will be streaming from a webcam here at Blunt Towers throughout the show. Isn’t technology wonderful…?

Blunt Beats at Bar Absolute – the playback

It’s a bit late, but better than not at all. Here’s the tracklist for parts two and three of last Wednesday’s Groundbeat session, liver from Bar Absolute.

After a few initial teething problems we got things ironed out and some smooth jazz influenced tunes were spun. This was the first of what could be many at this stylish new venue, so keep your eyes peeled for more dates. The download has been available since last Thursday, and will still be on our Radio page until this Thursday. So if you haven’t grabbed it yet, you’ve only got a couple of days left to do so.

Groundbeat live from Bar Absolute (Tonight!)

The decks at Bar Ab

I think we all agree a change is good once in a while. Even if it’s just your socks…Foot hygiene issues aside, it’s healthy to change the norm now and again.

The rambling point of this post (and rather rubbish sock reference), is to let you weblanders know that we’re taking transmission of tonight’s live radio show out of the smoky confines of Blunt HQ, and into Bar Absolute (in Hitchin, Hertfordshire) for the evenings proceedings. It’s fair to say that Bar Absolute has comfier seats and a better range of spirits than we currently have here at Blunt HQ, and they probably empty their ashtrays more often, so we’re glad they’re letting us come over for the night! (“thank you”…)

As advertised, tonight’s show will be another infamous “Groundbeat” session. Expect lots of chilled-out, jazz-influenced beats from across the genres, live from 8pm UK time. DJs will include Blunt residents, and Adam Williams, who returns to the fold once more as tonight’s guest DJ.

If you’re in the area, feel free to pop down to Bar Absolute to say hello, treat yourself to a Campari and Lucozade, and kick back to some live sounds from the family Blunt, from 8pm through until midnight.

If you’re not lucky enough to be nearby, then you can of course listen live to the whole 4 hour session via our radio page from 8pm tonight. You can do this in the comfort of your own home, without even having to change your socks. (“Socks!!! See?? I knew I’d get there in the end! Erm….I’m off for a siesta now.”)

Uncharted playback Jan 2010

So the journey continues and the charted DnB universe gets a little bigger. Marcus and myself carefully selected the soundtrack for a 4 hours of space travel and, it’s been caught in the can so you can listen again at your leisure.

A definite highlight is Marcus’ hour-long mix of releases from the seminal Labello Blanco. A full tracklisting is below and you’ll find the download link is on our Radio page so get it while it’s hot!

Into Uncharted Territory Once More

It’s time once more for Blunted space cadets Doug and Marcus Hurley to pull out their finest drum and bass and breakbeat recordings, and lead you towards another musically Uncharted Territory, on tonight’s live radio show.

Best make the marmalade sandwiches, this little journey could take a while. (It’ll take 4 hours in fact…from 8pm UK time until midnight.)

fLako and Kit Knows – Spaceshit remake

Cover art for The First Spaceshit on the Moon by fLako and Kit Knows

Kit Knows brought us a heavyweight rap version of fLako’s beattape The First Spaceshit On The Moon (released spring 2009). All tracks have been transformed into full length, fully-fledged songs. By keeping the original track names and recording vocals thoughtful he kept the original flavour and made the beattape grow into something complete. Listen to the track below or download it, and more glitchy hip hop goodness, from Kwatro.info.

This is a full length album which may introduce Kit Knows to you and brings a new dimension to fLako’s First Spaceshit On The Moon.

Pick N’ Mix(in’….again)

allsorts

We’re back on air at 8pm tonight, with the return of our Allsorts show. 4 hours of musical wanderings from across the genres, as chosen by Blunt residents Agent M and the Erbalist. This show is like Ronseal. It does exactly what it says on the tin (but it tastes nicer…)

Anyone For Noodles…?

Christmas, eh? It can either be a blinder, or a total and utter waste of time, depending on how your luck runs. Either way, it’s always good to have some quality music to hand (or should I say ear…?). That much, we here at Blunt HQ can do for you….

If you’re over the moon about your new plasma TV, or a bit pissed about your shite Rudolph jumper, it doesn’t really matter. This is because Blunt Residents Agent M and the Erbalist are back on the airwaves tonight with our (rather blunted) Electric Noodles radio show, which will make such seasonal issues disappear.

Expect lots of red-eyed electronic and downbeat sounds, live from 8pm UK time tonight. Nice….

Best open that bottle of rum, and get to work on the Blunt wraps methinks….This is one tasty 4-hour noodle dish.

Better Than A Mince Pie

soul food

Well, it is, frankly.

Instead of some seasonal pastry and Christmas CD, tune in tonight to our deep-fried, full fat, brandy-soaked Soul Food radio show. It’s far tastier. I’m sure even Delia would agree.

Live from 8pm UK time tonight, Santa’s (not so) little helpers Agent M and the Erbalist will be dishing up man-sized portions of soul, funk, hip hop, and all manner of dusty ghetto breaks.

Just the thing for a dice game on the stoop. (But, I wouldn’t bother with that in this weather….you’ll turn into a bloody snowman.)

Blunt Beats Radio presents Soul Food. Live from 8pm UK time Wednesday 23rd December. Music from Blunt Residents Agent M and the Erbalist. www.bluntbeats.com/radio
