The Soulfood kitchen is now closed until next time. The Erbalist, Agent M and myself broke out the recipe books and cooked up some al la carte beats for the hip-hop, soul and funk connoisseurs out there.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to bring you Nappa, as he was handed some parental duties at late notice. He has promised to make it down to the next one so watch the schedules for that.
Anyways, I was hunting high and low for obscure tunes for this show. You’ll find cuts from many places in many languages. If there’s any fluent Italian, French or German speakers who listened in - I’d appreciate a steer on what some of those tunes are about. I get the gist of some of them. Tough beats though!
My recommendation of the night is that new Milez Benjamin tune on Tru Thoughts. Crazy mad cyborg funk!
Erbalist followed on with some classic soul and funk. Numerous stormers were spun. Lovin’ the Parliament too. Good stuff, man!
Agent M stepped up for the late-shift and dug out some top-notch hip-hop and funk. Oldies but goodies!

Cheers for the comment, FeL. Glad you’re digging the show.
I picked up that La Tribu track last week. I don’t have much of a clue as to content of the lyrics, but as you didn’t come on here raging it can’t be anything too inflammable
If you have any other recommendations hit me up.
Big ups!

Don’t worry, la Tribu’s lyrics are great.
“Combat Perpetuel” means “Perpetual Fight” and this in this song they say that you’ve got to struggle everyday against the life. They talk about the French system. It’s a very committed band, one of the best in France. (Sorry, can’t improve that explanation, my English is too poor :S )
Anecdote : I saw this 12″ in the Fnac’s (a french multimedia shop) crates but i prefered buy another one and now i regret that ! I’ll take it next time !
